Cola makes a good marinade for tenderizing venison round steaks. This is a tasty, easy-to-make recipe that uses items you probably already have around the house.

Time: 12 hrs and 5 mins   •   Prep Time: 12 hrs   •   Cook Time: 5 min
Serving Size: Serving size is variable, depending on how many steaks you wish to prepare.

Ingredients

3/4 inch thick venison round steaks, but in 3/4' wide strips
Coca-Cola
All-purpose flour
salt
pepper
Crisco

Directions

First cut the venison into strips, as described in the ingredients list. Then cover them in Coca-cola in a shallow dish or a ziploc back overnight to marinade. The next day remove venison from the cola marinade and allow it to drain. Season flour with salt and pepper and dredge the venison in the seasoned flour. Melt the Crisco/shortening in a deep fat cooker or cast iron skillet. Quickly fry the venison to just a little more than rare, or until it is just brown. Be careful not to overcook. Eat and enjoy.

Tips

Use "regular" Coca-cola for the recipe. Be careful not to overcook.
