If you're an Elk hunter that likes to keep things simple, this is the recipes for you. It's a simple recipe using ingredients you probably already have at home (except for possibly the garlic clove). Enjoy!

Time: 15 min   •   Prep Time: 10 min   •   Cook Time: 6 hrs
Serving Size: 41005

Ingredients

1 Elk Tenderloin
3 Tbsp of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
3-4 Tablespoons of Butter
4 Cloves of Diced Garlic
Salt and Pepper

Directions

- Cut the elk tenderloin into 3/4 inch steaks and salt and pepper each side.
- Heat up the Olive Oil and butter in a heavy frying pan over medium heat.
- Add the garlic cloves to the hot oil and butter.
- Cook the elk tenderloin steaks for about 2-3 minutes per side. The outside will brown, but keep the inside pink for a medium rare level of doneness. Otherwise the steaks will maybe tough.

Tips

Elk meat is very lean, and contains very little fat. be careful that you don't overcook the meat, because it will become tough if you do. Medium rare is the doneness that I think comes out best.
